The Adirondack Mountains have a long, storied tradition of remote tent hunting for big bucks in the backcountry. Remote wall tents were a traditional way of hunting the Adirondacks, allowing hunters to get back into the deep woods to chase big wilderness bucks.
In 2024, with the launch of Big Woods Bucks' then-new Adirondack Hunt Podcast, Big Woods Bucks and Seek Outside teamed up to continue the tradition of remote Adirondack tent hunting. Mark, Austin, Brian, and their friends Dave Williams and Denny Gipe, have pursued backcountry bucks out of Seek Outside hot tents for years, taking notes on how to optimize the tent for Adirondack conditions.
The team has found over the years that the number one consideration for a hunter in the Adirondacks, or anywhere else in the northeast's wet, humid boreal forests, is keeping dry and drying gear. Unlike the Mountain West, where moisture isn't as much of an issue, the ability to dry gear, and keep oneself dry, is the most important factor in a tent. For this reason, the BWB Edition tent bundle comes with drying racks, allowing you to hang up your woolies next to the stove and get your gear dry after a long day hunting in wet conditions.
The BWB Edition tent also comes with more interior loops than the standard Seek Outside Redcliff tent, enabling you to rig up a drying system in the top of the tent, where the heat from the stove is hottest.
Because staying dry in the big woods is so important, this tent bundle comes with a floor and liners, ensuring that any moisture that forms is kept away from you and your gear while you sleep.
The next most important factor for remote tent hunting in the Big Woods is weight. At just 11 lb 8 oz maximum, depending on how you configure it, you can keep your gear and your backpack as light as possible so you can get back further. The reinforced center loop on the top of this tent enables you to save weight by leaving the carbon-fiber center pole at home by rigging up a center-pole and hanging this hot tent from that center-pole—just like you would with a wall tent.
Finally, if you've listened to the Adirondack Hunt Podcast, you've heard Roy Hart, Jim Massett, Jim Abbott, the Horn Hunters, and many more, talk about their remote tent hunting adventures, and one of the things that stands out that these backwoods legends did, is hike in and set up even if it took late into the night. To help with this, we've added high-visibility neon orange stake points to assist you in late-night setups.
The Big Woods Bucks Edition Seek Outside Redcliff tent is the best way to get deep into the backcountry and have a Big Woods adventure. Wake up at the buck sign!
